Sediment and Water Quality, and Benthic Health

Sediment and water quality are fundamental indicators of environmental health. Our staff helped write the Blueprint for their monitoring, and have years of experience in sampling, analysing, reporting and advising on the state and trends of sediment and water quality, and benthic health. For instance, we:

• Assisted with the analysis and reporting of Greater Wellington Regional Council’s sediment quality and ecological monitoring results from Porirua and Wellington Harbour.

• Annually report on water and sediment quality state and trends in Manuaku Harbour.

• Mapped spatial variation in sediment quality in Ahuriri Estuary, Napier, analysed water quality monitoring data, and advised on the design of Napier City Council’s water and sediment quality monitoring programmes.
